Flan Ingredients
Method
Instructions
- 1
Prepare the Caramel
In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the granulated sugar, stirring constantly until it turns a golden brown color. Quickly pour the caramel into a round flan mold or individual ramekins, tilting to coat the bottom evenly. Set aside to cool.
- 2
Make the Custard
In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- 3
Combine and Bake
Pour the custard mixture over the cooled caramel in the mold. Place the mold in a larger baking dish filled with hot water (water bath) and bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 50-60 minutes or until the flan is set.
- 4
Cool and Serve
Once baked, remove the flan from the oven and let it cool to room temperature. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight. To serve, run a knife around the edges, invert onto a plate, and drizzle the caramel sauce over the top.
