Flatbread and Filling

Method

Preparation and Assembly

  1. 1

    Make the Flatbread

In a mixing bowl, combine warm water and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy. Add flour, olive oil, and salt. Mix until a dough forms.

  2. 2

Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

  3. 3

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium heat. Divide the dough into 4 equal portions and roll each portion into a flatbread shape, about 1/4 inch thick.

  4. 4

Cook the flatbreads on the grill or skillet for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden and cooked through. Remove and set aside.

  5. 5

    Assemble the Louie’s Flatbread Cuban

On one half of each flatbread, layer smoked turkey, house roasted pork, Swiss cheese, a generous drizzle of mojito sauce, and pickles.

  6. 6

Fold the flatbread over and grill on medium heat for another 3-4 minutes, pressing down gently, until the cheese is melted and the flatbread is crispy.

  7. 7

Remove from heat, slice in half, and serve warm with extra mojito sauce on the side.
