Preparation Steps
- 1
Prepare the Chicken
Cut the chicken breast into strips. Season with salt and pepper. Dredge in cornstarch, dip in beaten egg, and coat with panko breadcrumbs.
- 2
Fry the Chicken
In a deep skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Fry the chicken strips until golden brown and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Drain on paper towels.
- 3
Make the Slaw
In a large bowl, combine shredded cabbage, carrot, red bell pepper, green onions, and cilantro. In a separate bowl, whisk together rice vinegar, sesame oil, sugar, and salt. Pour over the slaw and toss to combine.
- 4
Prepare the Sauce
In a small saucepan, combine Hawaiian BBQ sauce, soy sauce, honey, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes. Heat over low heat until warmed through, stirring occasionally.
- 5
Assemble the Tacos
Warm the flour tortillas. Place a few pieces of fried chicken on each tortilla, top with the fresh slaw, and drizzle with the Hawaiian fire sauce.
- 6
Serve
Serve immediately while warm, with extra sauce on the side.
