Fondant Ingredients

Method

Preparation Instructions

  1. 1

    Melt Chocolate and Butter

Preheat the oven to 200°C (392°F). In a heatproof bowl, combine the dark chocolate and unsalted butter. Place the bowl over a pot of simmering water (double boiler method) and melt them together, stirring occasionally until smooth. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

  2. 2

    Mix Wet Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar and eggs until the mixture is light and fluffy. Stir in the vanilla extract.

  3. 3

    Combine Mixtures

Slowly pour the melted chocolate mixture into the egg mixture, stirring continuously to avoid cooking the eggs. Mix until well combined.

  4. 4

    Add Dry Ingredients

Sift the all-purpose flour and salt into the chocolate mixture, gently folding it in until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

  5. 5

    Prepare Ramekins

Grease individual ramekins with butter and dust them with cocoa powder to prevent sticking. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared ramekins, filling them about 3/4 full.

  6. 6

    Bake the Fondants

Bake in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set but the center remains soft and gooey.

  7. 7

    Serve

Remove from the oven and let cool for 1-2 minutes. Invert each ramekin onto a plate and serve immediately, optionally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
