Peel and chop the potatoes, then boil them in salted water until tender, about 15-20 minutes.

Mash the Potatoes
Drain the potatoes, allow them to cool slightly, and then mash until smooth and fluffy.

Make the Dough
In a large bowl, combine the mashed potatoes, flour, egg, and salt. Mix until a dough forms.

Shape the Gnocchi
Divide the dough into smaller portions and roll each into a long rope. Cut into small pieces, then shape each piece with a fork to create ridges.

Add Tomatoes
Pour in the San Marzano tomatoes, breaking them up with a spoon. Season with salt and pepper.

Simmer the Sauce
Let the sauce simmer for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add fresh basil during the last few minutes.

Cook the Gnocchi
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the gnocchi and cook until they float to the surface, about 2-4 minutes.
