Fusillone Bolognese
Method
Preparation
Cook the pasta
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the fusillone pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
Prepare the Bolognese sauce
In a large skillet or saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onions, carrots, and celery. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes until vegetables are soft and translucent.
Add the beef
Increase heat to medium-high and add the ground Northern Gold beef to the pan. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon.
Add tomatoes and season
Stir in the crushed San Marzano tomatoes, minced garlic, salt, and black pepper. Reduce heat to low, cover, and let simmer for 30-40 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Combine pasta and sauce
Once the sauce has thickened, add the cooked fusillone pasta to the sauce. Toss to combine, ensuring the pasta is well coated.
Serve
Serve hot, garnished with grated Parmigiano Reggiano and fresh basil leaves.
