Cooking Instructions
- 1
Cook the Bucatini
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the bucatini and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water, then drain the pasta.
- 2
Prepare the Prosciutto
In a large skillet over medium heat, add the olive oil. Once hot, add the prosciutto and cook until crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Remove and set aside.
- 3
Make the Sauce
In the same skillet, add the chopped onion and cook until translucent, about 5 minutes. Add the minced garlic and crushed red pepper flakes and cook for another minute.
- 4
Add Tomato Puree and Vodka
Pour in the tomato puree and vodka. Stir well and let it simmer for about 10 minutes, allowing the alcohol to cook off.
- 5
Incorporate Cream
Reduce heat to low, then add the heavy cream. Stir until well combined, then season with salt and black pepper to taste.
- 6
Combine Pasta and Sauce
Add the cooked bucatini to the sauce, tossing to coat. If the sauce is too thick, add reserved pasta water as needed.
- 7
Serve
Plate the bucatini and top with crispy prosciutto, grated Parmesan cheese, and fresh basil.
