Baklava Ingredients
Method
Baklava Directions
Prepare the Nut Filling
In a food processor, pulse the walnuts, almonds, ground cinnamon, and a pinch of salt until finely chopped. Set aside.
Assemble the Baklava
Brush a 9x13 inch baking dish with melted butter. Layer 8 sheets of phyllo dough in the dish, brushing each layer with butter. Spread a thin layer of the nut mixture over the phyllo. Repeat layering with 4 sheets of phyllo followed by the nut filling, until all the nuts are used. Finish with 8 layers of buttered phyllo on top.
Cut and Bake
Using a sharp knife, cut the assembled baklava into diamond or square shapes. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, until golden brown.
Finish the Baklava
Once the baklava is done baking, pour the cooled syrup over the hot baklava. Allow it to soak for several hours or overnight before serving.
