Falafel Ingredients

Method

Falafel Preparation

  1. 1

    Soak Chickpeas

Soak the dried chickpeas in water overnight or for at least 8 hours.

  2. 2

    Blend Ingredients

Drain and rinse the soaked chickpeas. In a food processor, combine the chickpeas, parsley, cilantro, onion, garlic, cumin, coriander, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Pulse until a coarse mixture forms.

  3. 3

    Add Flour

Transfer the mixture to a bowl and stir in the flour. Mix until well combined. If the mixture is too wet, add more flour as needed.

  4. 4

    Chill Mixture

Cover the mixture and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to help it firm up.

  5. 5

    Form Balls

Once chilled, use your hands to form the mixture into small balls or patties.

  6. 6

    Heat Oil

In a deep pan, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until hot.

  7. 7

    Fry Falafel

Carefully add the falafel balls to the hot oil in batches, frying until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side.

  8. 8

    Drain and Serve

Remove falafel from oil and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve warm with tahini sauce, pita, and fresh veggies.
