Sticky Rice Ingredients

Method

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Soak the Rice

Rinse the glutinous rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Then, soak the rice in a bowl with enough water to cover it for at least 4 hours or preferably overnight.

  2. 2

    Drain and Prepare for Steaming

After soaking the rice, drain it in a sieve or colander. Prepare a steamer basket lined with cheesecloth or a clean kitchen towel. Transfer the drained rice into the steamer basket, spreading it evenly.

  3. 3

    Steam the Rice

Fill a pot with water and bring it to a boil. Once boiling, place the steamer basket over the pot (making sure the water does not touch the rice) and cover it. Steam the rice for about 25-30 minutes, or until it becomes translucent and sticky.

  4. 4

    Season the Rice

Once cooked, remove the rice from the steamer and transfer it to a bowl. Sprinkle salt over the hot rice and mix gently to combine. Let it sit for a few minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

  5. 5

    Serve

Serve the sticky rice warm as a side dish. It pairs well with various Asian dishes.
