Method

Prepare the Burger Patties

  1. 1

    Mix Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently with your hands until just combined.

  2. 2

    Form Patties

Divide the beef mixture into four equal portions and shape each portion into a patty, about 3/4 inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to help them cook evenly.

Cook the Burgers

  1. 3

    Preheat Grill or Pan

Heat a grill or a skillet over medium-high heat. If using a skillet, you may add a little oil to prevent sticking.

  2. 4

    Cook Patties

Place the burger patties on the hot grill or skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side until browned, then flip.

  3. 5

    Add Cheese

After flipping the patties, place a slice of American cheese on each patty. Cook for an additional 4-5 minutes until the cheese is melted and the burgers are cooked to your desired doneness.

Assemble the Burgers

  1. 6

    Prepare Condiments

Slice the tomato into thick slices and prepare the lettuce, pickles, ketchup, and mustard.

  2. 7

    Assemble

On the bottom half of each burger bun, place a lettuce leaf, followed by the cooked patty with melted cheese, a slice of tomato, and pickles. Add ketchup and mustard to taste, then top with the other half of the bun.
