Prepare the Beef Patties
In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

Form the Patties
Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape each portion into a patty, making a slight indentation in the center to prevent puffing during cooking.

Cook the Burger Patties
In the same skillet, add the burger patties and cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side. Flip the patties and place a slice of American cheese on each one.

Melt the Cheese
Continue cooking for an additional 4-5 minutes, or until the burger is cooked to your desired doneness and the cheese is melted.
Assembly

Assemble the Burger
On the bottom half of each burger bun, layer the lettuce, a slice of tomato, and pickles. Place the cooked burger patty with melted cheese on top and add two slices of crispy bacon.

Top with the other half of the bun. Serve immediately with your favorite sides.
