For the Chicken Katsu

For the Tonkatsu Sauce

Method

Prepare the Chicken

  1. 1

    Season the Chicken

Begin by seasoning the chicken breasts with salt and black pepper on both sides.

  2. 2

    Dredge in Flour

Place the flour in a shallow dish. Dredge each chicken breast in the flour, shaking off the excess.

  3. 3

    Dip in Egg

In another bowl, beat the egg. Dip the floured chicken breasts into the egg, ensuring they are well-coated.

  4. 4

    Coat with Panko

Transfer the chicken to a plate with panko breadcrumbs and press down to ensure they are fully coated.

Cook the Chicken Katsu

  1. 5

    Heat the Oil

In a large frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat.

  2. 6

    Fry the Chicken

Once the oil is hot, carefully add the chicken breasts. Fry for about 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown and fully cooked.

  3. 7

    Drain and Slice

Remove the chicken from the oil and place on paper towels to drain excess oil. Once cooled slightly, slice the chicken into strips.

Prepare the Tonkatsu Sauce

  1. 8

    Mix the Sauce

In a small bowl, combine the tonkatsu sauce, soy sauce, honey, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir until well blended.

Serve

  1. 9

    Plate the Dish

Serve the sliced chicken katsu on a plate with the tonkatsu sauce drizzled on top or on the side for dipping.
