Prepare the Mozzarella
Insert a wooden skewer into each mozzarella cheese ball, pushing it in until it's secure.

Make the Batter
In a mixing bowl, combine cornmeal, all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. In another bowl, whisk together milk and egg. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined, being careful not to overmix.

Heat the Oil
In a deep pot, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

Coat the Mozzarella
Dip each skewered mozzarella ball into the batter, ensuring it's fully coated.

Fry the Corn Dogs
Carefully place the coated mozzarella dogs into the hot oil, a few at a time, and fry until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes. Use tongs to turn them as needed.

Drain and Serve
Remove the corn dogs from the oil and let them drain on paper towels. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
