1/2 Mozzarella & 1/2 Sausage Dog Recipe

Cooking Directions

   Prepare the Batter

   In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cornmeal, baking powder, salt, pepper, and sugar until well combined.

   Mix Wet Ingredients

   In another bowl, mix the milk and egg until smooth. Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined. Do not overmix.

   Prepare the Hot Dogs and Cheese

   Insert a skewer into each hot dog and mozzarella stick. You can use the same skewer for each, alternating between hot dog and cheese.

   Heat the Oil

   In a deep pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

   Coat and Fry

   Dip each skewer into the batter, coating it thoroughly. Carefully place the coated skewers into the hot oil. Fry for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown, turning occasionally.

   Drain and Serve

   Remove the corn dogs from the oil and let them drain on a paper towel. Serve hot with ketchup and mustard on the side.
