Method

Cobbler Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. 2

    Prepare the Peaches

Wash, peel, and slice the fresh peaches. Place them in a mixing bowl and sprinkle with 1/2 cup of granulated sugar. Toss well and set aside to macerate for about 10 minutes.

  3. 3

    Melt the Butter

In a medium saucepan, melt the stick of unsalted butter over low heat. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

  4. 4

    Mix the Dry Ingredients

In another bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, ground cinnamon, and remaining 1/2 cup of granulated sugar. Mix until well combined.

  5. 5

    Combine Wet Ingredients

Add the milk and vanilla extract to the melted butter, stirring until well combined.

  6. 6

    Combine All Ingredients

Pour the wet mixture into the dry mixture, stirring until just combined. Do not overmix.

  7. 7

    Assemble the Cobbler

In a greased baking dish (approximately 9x13 inches), pour the batter evenly. Spoon the macerated peaches and any juices over the batter.

  8. 8

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Serving

  1. 9

    Serve the Cobbler

Remove the cobbler from the oven and let it cool for about 10-15 minutes. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top.
