Fried Oreos
Method
Preparation and Cooking
- 1
Make the Berry Compote
In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine seasonal berries, sugar, and lemon juice. Cook until the berries break down and the mixture thickens slightly, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool.
- 2
Prepare the Batter
In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and granulated sugar. In another bowl, mix the milk and vanilla extract. Combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients until smooth.
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a deep saucepan or fryer, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
- 4
Fry the Oreos
Dip each Oreo into the batter, ensuring it’s fully coated. Carefully place the battered Oreos in the hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.
- 5
Serve
Dust the fried Oreos with powdered sugar, drizzle with caramel sauce, and serve with the berry compote on the side.
