Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Grits

In a saucepan, bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Add 1 cup of grits and a pinch of salt. Reduce heat to low and stir occasionally until thickened, about 20 minutes. Stir in 1 cup of shredded Gouda cheese until melted and creamy.

  2. 2

    Cook the Shrimp

In a skillet over medium heat, add the Creole sauce and the Gulf shrimp. Cook for about 5-7 minutes or until shrimp are pink and cooked through.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Apple Sausage

In another skillet, cook the apple sausage links over medium heat until browned and cooked through, about 8-10 minutes. Slice into rounds.

  4. 4

    Fry the Okra

In a bowl, toss the sliced okra in flour, salt, and black pepper. Heat oil in a deep skillet over medium-high heat. Fry the okra in batches until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes. Drain on paper towels.

  5. 5

    Assemble the Plate

On a serving plate, layer the Gouda grits, add the cooked shrimp on top, scatter the sliced apple sausage, and serve with pico de gallo and fried okra on the side.
