Loaded Cornbread
Method
Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Cornbread
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). In a large bowl, mix together cornmeal, flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt. In a separate bowl, whisk together milk, egg, and melted butter. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined.
- 2
Bake the Cornbread
Pour the batter into a greased 9x9 inch baking dish. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- 3
Add Toppings
Remove the cornbread from the oven and let it cool slightly. Top with shredded brisket, baked beans, and cheddar cheese. Drizzle house BBQ sauce over the top.
- 4
Final Bake
Return the loaded cornbread to the oven and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- 5
Garnish and Serve
Remove from oven, garnish with chopped green onions, and let cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
