Boil the Water
In a large pot, bring 8 cups of water to a boil over medium-high heat.

Steep the Tea
Once the water is boiling, remove it from heat and add 4 cups of black tea leaves. Cover and let steep for 5-7 minutes, depending on your desired strength.

Strain the Tea
After steeping, strain the tea leaves from the liquid using a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth, discarding the leaves.

Add Sugar
While the tea is still warm, stir in 1 cup of granulated sugar until fully dissolved.

Add Lemon Juice
Mix in 2 tablespoons of lemon juice for added flavor and freshness.
Serving the Tea

Chill the Tea
Allow the sweetened tea to cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 1 hour until chilled.

In a tall glass, add 1 cup of ice cubes, pour the chilled sweet tea over the ice, and garnish with fresh mint leaves to taste.
