Method

Preparing the Chicken

  1. 1

    Marinate the Chicken

In a bowl, combine buttermilk, hot sauce, salt, black pepper, and paprika. Add the chicken breasts, ensuring they are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or overnight for best results.

  2. 2

    Coat the Chicken

In a shallow dish, add the flour. Remove the marinated chicken from the refrigerator and let excess marinade drip off. Dredge each piece of chicken in flour, ensuring an even coating.

  3. 3

    Fry the Chicken

In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot, carefully add the coated chicken breasts. Fry each side for about 5-7 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.

Assembling the Sub

  1. 4

    Prepare the Sub Rolls

While the chicken is frying, toast the sub rolls in a separate oven or toaster until lightly golden.

  2. 5

    Build the Sub

Slice the jalapeno peppers and set aside. Once the chicken is fried and the rolls are toasted, place a piece of crispy chicken on each roll. Top with two slices of pepper jack cheese, jalapeno slices, dill pickle slices, and drizzle ranch dressing generously over the top.

  3. 6

    Serve

Close the sub, slice it in half if desired, and serve immediately while hot and crispy.
