Method
Dough Preparation
- 1
Activate Yeast
In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Allow it to sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- 2
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt.
- 3
Combine Ingredients
Once the yeast is frothy, pour it into the flour mixture along with olive oil. Mix until a dough begins to form.
- 4
Knead the Dough
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- 5
Let the Dough Rise
Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm area for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Pizza Assembly
- 6
Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat.
- 7
Shape the Dough
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and transfer it to a floured surface. Roll it out to your desired thickness and shape (round or rectangular).
- 8
Add Sauce
Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the rolled-out dough, leaving a small border for the crust.
- 9
Layer the Toppings
Sprinkle the shredded Wisconsin smoked provolone cheese over the sauce. Then, layer the heritage pepperoni, Italian sausage, diced ham, and sliced banana peppers on top.
- 10
Bake the Pizza
Transfer the assembled pizza to the preheated oven (or onto the hot pizza stone) and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
- 11
Serve
Remove the pizza from the oven, allow it to cool for a couple of minutes, then slice, serve, and enjoy!
