Meatball Ingredients

Marinara Sauce Ingredients

Method

Meatball Preparation

  1. 1

    Mix Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, eggs, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, black pepper, and Italian seasoning. Mix until all ingredients are well combined.

  2. 2

    Form Meatballs

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Once mixed, form the meat mixture into meatballs, about 1.5 inches in diameter. Place the meatballs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  3. 3

    Bake Meatballs

Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until they are cooked through and browned.

Marinara Sauce Preparation

  1. 4

    Sauté Onions and Garlic

In a large saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes. Add minced garlic and sauté for an additional minute.

  2. 5

    Add Tomatoes and Seasoning

Stir in the crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, sugar, salt, and black pepper. Bring the mixture to a simmer and let it cook for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  3. 6

    Finish Sauce

Add the chopped fresh basil to the sauce just before serving. Adjust seasoning to taste.

Assembly

  1. 7

    Combine Meatballs and Sauce

Once the meatballs are baked and the sauce is ready, combine them in a large pot on low heat. Let them simmer together for about 10 minutes to meld the flavors.

  2. 8

    Add Cheese

Sprinkle shredded smoked Provolone and grated Romano cheese over the top of the meatballs and sauce. Cover the pot and let it sit for a few minutes until the cheese is melted.
