Bread Dough

Method

Bread Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 10 minutes until foamy.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, garlic powder, and dried oregano.

  3. 3

    Combine Ingredients

Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and add the activated yeast mixture and olive oil. Stir until a dough forms.

  4. 4

    Knead the Dough

Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  5. 5

    Let Dough Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

Assembly and Baking

  1. 6

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. 7

    Shape the Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into small pieces. Shape each piece into a ball.

  3. 8

    Arrange the Dough Balls

In a greased baking dish, arrange the dough balls in a circular pattern, overlapping slightly.

  4. 9

    Add the Topping

Brush the melted butter over the top of the dough balls and sprinkle the grated asiago cheese on top.

  5. 10

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.

  6. 11

    Garnish

Remove from the oven, sprinkle with chopped parsley, and let cool slightly before serving.

Marinara Sauce Preparation

  1. 12

    Cook Garlic

In a saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

  2. 13

    Add Tomatoes and Seasoning

Stir in crushed tomatoes, dried basil, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using).

  3. 14

    Simmer Sauce

Bring the sauce to a simmer and let it cook for about 15-20 minutes to thicken and develop flavors.

  4. 15

    Serve with Bread

Serve the marinara sauce warm alongside the asiago cheese bread.
