Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Glass
Take an Old Fashioned glass (or a lowball glass) and set it aside.
- 2
Add Simple Syrup and Bitters
In the prepared glass, add 1 teaspoon of simple syrup and 2 dashes of bitters.
- 3
Muddle the Ingredients
Using a muddler or the back of a spoon, gently muddle the simple syrup and bitters together until they are well combined.
- 4
Add Bourbon
Pour 3 ounces of bourbon into the glass over the muddled mixture.
- 5
Add Ice
Fill the glass with ice cubes, preferably one large cube for slower dilution.
- 6
Garnish with Orange
Take a fresh orange slice and place it on the rim of the glass or drop it into the drink. Optionally, express the oils from the orange peel over the drink before garnishing.
- 7
Stir and Serve
Give the drink a gentle stir to combine the flavors, then serve immediately.
