Pan de Sal Roll

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 10 minutes until frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour and salt.

  3. 3

    Combine Ingredients

Make a well in the center of the flour mixture. Add the yeast mixture, milk, egg, and melted butter. Mix until a dough forms.

  4. 4

    Knead Dough

Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  5. 5

    First Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

  6. 6

    Shape Rolls

Punch down the risen dough and divide it into small balls. Roll each ball in bread crumbs and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  7. 7

    Second Rise

Cover the shaped rolls with a cloth and let them rise for another 30 minutes.

  8. 8

    Bake

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
