Mongolian Beef Ingredients
Method
Mongolian Beef Directions
- 1
Prepare the Beef
Slice the beef flank steak against the grain into thin strips, approximately 1/4 inch thick. This will ensure tenderness.
- 2
Marinate the Beef
In a bowl, combine the sliced beef with 1/4 cup of soy sauce and 1 tablespoon of cornstarch. Mix well and let it marinate for at least 30 minutes.
- 3
Prepare the Sauce
In a separate bowl, mix together the remaining soy sauce (3/4 cup) and brown sugar until well combined. Set aside.
- 4
Cook the Beef
Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the marinated beef strips and cook until browned, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
- 5
- 6
Combine with Sauce
Return the cooked beef to the skillet, then pour the sauce mixture over the beef. Stir well to coat the beef and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce has thickened slightly.
- 7
Add Green Onions
Slice the green onions and add them to the skillet, stirring them into the beef and sauce mixture. Cook for another minute.
- 8
Finish with Sesame Oil
Drizzle the sesame oil over the beef and give it a final stir before removing from heat.
- 9
Serve
Serve the Mongolian beef hot over steamed rice or noodles, garnished with additional green onions if desired.
