Method
Bun Preparation
- 1
Activate the Yeast
In a small bowl, combine warm water (about 110°F/43°C) with sugar and yeast. Let sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- 2
Mix the Dough
In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Create a well in the center and add the activated yeast mixture, warm milk, melted butter, and the egg. Mix until a dough forms.
- 3
Knead the Dough
Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- 4
First Rise
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- 5
Shape the Buns
Punch down the dough and turn it out onto a floured surface. Divide into equal portions (large buns or sliders) and shape into rounds.
- 6
Second Rise
Place the shaped buns on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cover and let rise for another 30-45 minutes.
- 7
Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- 8
Bake the Buns
Bake the buns for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from the oven and let cool on a wire rack.
