Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

  3. 3

    Cut in the Butter

Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, cut the cold butter into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

  4. 4

    Add Buttermilk

Pour in the buttermilk and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.

  5. 5

    Shape the Biscuits

Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and gently knead it 2-3 times. Pat it into a 1-inch thick round. Use a biscuit cutter to cut out biscuits.

  6. 6

    Bake

Place the biscuits on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.

  7. 7

    Serve

Serve warm with Vermont Creamery cultured butter and your choice of strawberry preserves or Michigan honey.
