Cooking Instructions
Prepare the Beans
Rinse the pinto beans under cold water and remove any debris. Soak the beans in water overnight or for at least 6 hours.
Cook the Beans
Drain and rinse the soaked beans. In a large pot, combine the beans and 4 cups of fresh water. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and let simmer for about 1.5 to 2 hours until the beans are tender.
Season the Mixture
Stir in the cumin, salt, black pepper, and lime juice. Continue to cook for another 5-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until heated through.
Serve
Remove from heat and stir in the fresh chopped cilantro. Serve warm as a side dish or as a filling for tacos, burritos, or nachos.
