Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Marinade

In a small bowl, mix together smoked paprika, brown sugar, black pepper, salt, and liquid smoke. Rub this mixture all over the beef brisket and marinate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Smoker

Preheat your pit smoker to 225°F (107°C). Add wood chips of your choice (hickory or mesquite work well) to the smoker.

  3. 3

    Smoke the Brisket

Place the marinated brisket on the smoker and smoke until it reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C), about 4-5 hours.

  4. 4

    Prepare for Braising

Once smoked, remove the brisket and set aside. In a large pot, sauté chopped onion and minced garlic until translucent.

  5. 5

    Braise the Brisket

Add the smoked brisket back to the pot along with beef broth. Bring to a simmer, cover, and braise on low heat for 2-3 hours until tender.

  6. 6

    Serve

Once tender, slice the brisket against the grain and serve with your choice of BBQ sauce.
