Prepare the Sweet Potatoes
Peel and chop the sweet potatoes into uniform chunks.

Cook the Sweet Potatoes
Place the chopped sweet potatoes in a pot and cover with water. Bring to a boil and cook until tender, about 15-20 minutes.

Drain and Mash
Drain the cooked sweet potatoes and return them to the pot. Add the butter, milk, salt, black pepper, cinnamon, and nutmeg.

Blend Until Smooth
Use a potato masher or hand mixer to mash the sweet potatoes until smooth and creamy. If desired, stir in maple syrup for added sweetness.

Transfer the mashed sweet potatoes to a serving dish and enjoy!
