Chocolate Orange Passover Torte Recipe
A slice of moist, rich cake for chocolate lovers made with lots of dark chocolate, real orange oil, and ground almonds coated in a shiny dark chocolate ganache and more sliced toasted almonds. It’s a bonus that it’s good for Passover because the cake is made from matzo meal!

Cake Preparation

Melt Chocolate and Butter
In a heatproof bowl, combine the dark chocolate and butter. Melt them together over a pot of simmering water, stirring until smooth. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

Mix Sugar and Eggs
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the sugar and eggs until the mixture is light and fluffy.

Combine Ingredients
Gradually add the melted chocolate mixture to the sugar and eggs, stirring continuously. Then fold in the matzo meal, ground almonds, orange oil, and baking powder until just combined.

Bake the Cake
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a round cake pan and pour the batter into it. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Prepare Ganache
For the ganache, melt 150g of dark chocolate with 100g of heavy cream over low heat until smooth. Allow it to cool slightly before pouring over the cooled cake.

Once the ganache has set, slice the cake and garnish with sliced toasted almonds if desired. Enjoy your chocolate orange torte!
