Cajun Fries Ingredients

Method

Cajun Fries Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Potatoes

Wash and peel the Russet potatoes. Cut them into evenly sized fries, about 1/4 inch thick.

  2. 2

    Soak the Fries

Place the cut fries in a bowl of cold water and let them soak for at least 30 minutes. This helps to remove excess starch and makes them crispier.

  3. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a deep fryer or a large pot, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer to monitor the temperature.

  4. 4

    Fry the Potatoes

Remove the fries from the water and pat them dry with a towel. Carefully add a batch of fries to the hot oil, ensuring not to overcrowd the pot. Fry for about 5-7 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.

  5. 5

    Drain and Season

Using a slotted spoon, remove the fries from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. While still hot, sprinkle with salt, black pepper, and Cajun spice blend to taste.

  6. 6

    Serve

Serve the Cajun fries hot, either on their own or with your favorite dipping sauce.
