Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare French Toast Batter

In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and ground cinnamon until well combined.

  2. 2

    Soak the Bread

Dip each slice of Bakehouse white bread into the French toast batter, ensuring both sides are well-coated. Let them soak for a minute.

  3. 3

    Cook the Potatoes

In a skillet, cook the breakfast potatoes in a little butter or oil until golden brown and tender. Set aside.

  4. 4

    Pan-Fry the Sandwich

In a skillet, melt 1 tablespoon of butter over medium heat. Place one slice of soaked bread in the skillet, layer with ham and Swiss cheese, then top with the second slice of soaked bread. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cheese is melted.

  5. 5

    Serve

Remove from skillet and slice in half. Serve warm with breakfast potatoes on the side and a drizzle of Michigan maple syrup or a side of Blackberry Patch preserves.
