Method
Making the Caramel
- 1
Prepare the Caramel
In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the granulated sugar and water. Stir gently until the sugar dissolves.
- 2
Cook the Caramel
Allow the mixture to boil without stirring until it turns a golden brown color, about 8-10 minutes. Remove from heat immediately to prevent burning.
- 3
Coat the Flan Mold
Quickly and carefully pour the hot caramel into a round flan mold or individual ramekins, swirling to coat the bottom evenly. Set aside to let it harden.

- 5
Pour into Mold
Pour the blended mixture over the hardened caramel in the flan mold or ramekins.
- 6
Bake the Flan
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the flan mold into a larger baking dish and fill the baking dish with hot water until it reaches halfway up the sides of the flan mold. Bake for about 50-60 minutes, or until the flan is set but still slightly jiggly in the center.
- 7
Cool and Refrigerate
Remove the flan from the oven and let it cool at room temperature. Once cooled, refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight.
- 8
Serve
To serve, run a knife around the edges of the flan to loosen it. Invert it onto a serving plate, allowing the caramel to drizzle over the top.
