Sauce and Toppings

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Make the Sauce

In a large saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.

  2. 2

Add crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, dried basil, sugar, salt, and black pepper to the saucepan. Stir well to combine.

  3. 3

Bring the sauce to a simmer and reduce the heat to low. Let it cook for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  4. 4

    Assemble the Dish

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Spread a layer of the sauce on the bottom of a baking dish.

  5. 5

Add a layer of shredded mozzarella cheese on top of the sauce.

  6. 6

Repeat the layers until all sauce and cheese are used, finishing with a layer of mozzarella on top.

  7. 7

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.

  8. 8

    Serve

Allow the dish to cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy your Old Reliable!
