Method

Steak Preparation

  1. 1

    Season the Steak

Sprinkle the ribeye steak generously with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder on both sides.

  2. 2

    Heat the Pan

In a heavy skillet or cast-iron pan, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until it shimmers.

  3. 3

    Cook the Steak

Place the seasoned ribeye steak in the hot pan. Cook for 4-5 minutes on one side without moving it, until a nice crust forms.

  4. 4

    Flip the Steak

Flip the steak over using tongs. Add fresh rosemary to the pan and cook for an additional 4-5 minutes for medium-rare, or until desired doneness.

  5. 5

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steak from the pan and let it rest on a cutting board for 5 minutes before slicing.

Mashed Potatoes Preparation

  1. 6

    Prepare the Potatoes

Peel and cut the potatoes into quarters. Place them in a large pot and cover with cold water.

  2. 7

    Boil the Potatoes

Bring the pot of water to a boil over high heat. Add salt and reduce heat to medium. Cook the potatoes for 15-20 minutes or until fork-tender.

  3. 8

    Drain and Mash

Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Add butter, heavy cream, salt, and black pepper. Mash until smooth and creamy.

  4. 9

    Serve the Mashed Potatoes

Transfer mashed potatoes to a serving bowl and keep warm until ready to serve.
