Method
Bread Preparation
- 1
Activate Yeast
In a small bowl, combine warm water, active dry yeast, and granulated sugar. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- 2
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and salt.
- 3
Combine Mixtures
Once the yeast is activated, pour it into the flour mixture along with olive oil. Stir until a rough dough forms.
- 4
Knead the Dough
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- 5
First Rise
Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- 6
Shape the Dough
After the dough has risen, punch it down and shape it into loaves or rolls. Place them in greased baking pans.
- 7
Second Rise
Cover the shaped dough with a cloth and allow it to rise for another 30 minutes.
- 8
Preheat Oven
While the dough is rising, preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- 9
Bake the Bread
Once the second rise is complete, bake the bread in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
- 10
Cool the Bread
Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Butter Preparation
- 11
Prepare Butter
In a small bowl, soften the unsalted butter at room temperature until spreadable. Add sea salt to taste.
- 12
Serve
Once the bread has cooled, slice it and serve it warm with the prepared butter.
