Preparation Steps
- 1
Prepare the Teriyaki Sauce
In a medium saucepan, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, minced garlic, grated ginger, and sesame oil. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
- 2
Thicken the Sauce
In a small bowl, mix cornstarch and water until smooth. Pour this mixture into the saucepan with the teriyaki sauce and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, or until the sauce thickens. Remove from heat and let it cool.
- 3
Marinate the Chicken
Place the chicken breasts in a large resealable bag or shallow dish. Pour half of the cooled teriyaki sauce over the chicken, ensuring it is well coated. Marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, preferably 1-2 hours for better flavor.
- 4
Preheat the Grill
Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
- 5
Grill the Chicken
Remove the chicken from the marinade, letting excess sauce drip off. Grill the chicken for about 6-7 minutes per side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C) and the chicken is nicely charred.
- 6
Serve
Remove the chicken from the grill and let it rest for a few minutes. Drizzle the remaining teriyaki sauce over the chicken. Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions before serving.
