Prepare the Glass
Chill a martini glass by placing it in the freezer or filling it with ice water for a few minutes.

Combine Ingredients
In a cocktail shaker, add 2 oz of gin and 0.5 oz of dry vermouth.

Fill the cocktail shaker with 1 cup of ice cubes.

Shake or Stir
Shake the cocktail shaker vigorously for about 15 seconds or stir gently for 30 seconds.

Strain into Glass
Remove the chilled martini glass from the freezer or discard the ice water, then strain the cocktail mixture into the glass.
