Dough

Garlic Parmesan Breadcrumbs

Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Mixing the Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.

  2. 2

    Combining Ingredients

Add all-purpose flour, salt, and olive oil to the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.

  3. 3

    Kneading the Dough

Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. 4

    First Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.

Shaping and Topping

  1. 5

    Shaping the Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down gently and transfer it to a greased baking sheet. Use your fingers to spread it out into a rectangle, about 1 inch thick.

  2. 6

    Adding Herbs

Sprinkle the fresh rosemary and thyme evenly over the top of the dough, pressing them lightly into the surface.

  3. 7

    Second Rise

Cover the dough again with a damp cloth and allow it to rise for an additional 30 minutes.

Baking

  1. 8

    Preparing to Bake

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).

  2. 9

    Baking the Focaccia

Once the dough has risen, use your fingers to create dimples all over the surface. Drizzle with olive oil, then bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.

Making Garlic Parmesan Breadcrumbs

  1. 10

    Mixing Breadcrumbs

In a small bowl, combine bread crumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, dried parsley, olive oil, and salt.

  2. 11

    Baking Breadcrumbs

Spread the breadcrumb mixture on a baking sheet and toast in the oven for about 5-7 minutes, until golden brown and fragrant.

Finishing Touch

  1. 12

    Serving

Once the focaccia is done baking, remove it from the oven and immediately top with the garlic Parmesan breadcrumbs. Allow to cool slightly before slicing and serving.
