Dough

Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.

  2. 2

    Cream Butter

In a separate bowl, cream together the unsalted butter and eggs until light and fluffy.

  3. 3

    Combine Mixtures

Gradually add the milk and vanilla extract to the butter and egg mixture. Mix until well combined. Slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.

  4. 4

    Chill the Dough

Cover the dough with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow it to firm up.

Frying

  1. 5

    Heat Oil

In a large, deep pot or fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 6

    Shape Crullers

Using a piping bag fitted with a large star tip, pipe the dough in a circular shape into the hot oil, about 3-4 inches in diameter.

  3. 7

    Fry Crullers

Fry the crullers for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until they turn golden brown. Use a slotted spoon to carefully flip them.

  4. 8

    Drain Excess Oil

Once cooked, remove the crullers from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

Topping

  1. 9

    Mix Sugar and Cinnamon

In a small bowl, combine the powdered sugar and ground cinnamon.

  2. 10

    Coat Crullers

While the crullers are still warm, toss them in the sugar-cinnamon mixture until well coated.
