Preparation
- 1
Make the Dough
In a large bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy. Add olive oil and salt, then gradually stir in flour until a dough forms.
- 2
Knead the Dough
Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- 3
Prepare the Sauce
While the dough is rising, prepare the sauce by blending crushed tomatoes with oregano, salt, and black pepper to taste. Set aside.
- 4
Preheat Oven
Preheat the oven to 475°F (245°C) and place a pizza stone or baking sheet inside to heat up.
- 5
Shape the Pizza
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and transfer it to a floured surface. Stretch it out into a rectangle, about 1 inch thick. Place it on parchment paper for easy transfer.
- 6
Add Toppings
Spread the prepared sauce evenly over the dough, then sprinkle mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, olives, sliced red onion, and fresh basil on top.
- 7
Bake the Pizza
Carefully transfer the pizza to the preheated pizza stone or baking sheet. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
- 8
Serve
Remove from the oven, let cool for a few minutes, slice, and serve hot.
