Crispy Hash Browns

Method

Crispy Hash Browns

1

Prepare the Potatoes

Peel the Russet potatoes and grate them using a box grater or food processor. Place the grated potatoes in a large bowl.

2

Remove Excess Moisture

Sprinkle salt over the grated potatoes and let them sit for about 10 minutes. This will draw out moisture. After 10 minutes, use a clean kitchen towel to wring out excess moisture from the potatoes.

3

Season the Potatoes

Return the drained potatoes to the bowl. Add black pepper and mix well to ensure even seasoning.

4

Heat the Oil

In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until shimmering.

5

Cook the Hash Browns

Add the grated potato mixture to the skillet in an even layer. Press down gently with a spatula and cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until the bottom is golden brown.

6

Flip and Finish Cooking

Carefully flip the hash browns using the spatula. Add butter to the skillet around the edges of the hash browns. Cook for an additional 5-7 minutes until the other side is golden and crispy.

7

Serve

Once cooked, transfer the crispy hash browns to a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil. Serve warm.
