Tuna Tartare

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Tuna

Using a sharp knife, cut the sushi grade tuna into small, evenly sized cubes, about 1/4 inch in size. This helps to ensure a uniform texture.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Avocado

Cut the avocado in half, remove the pit, and scoop the flesh into a bowl. Mash the avocado gently with a fork, leaving some chunks for texture.

  3. 3

    Mix the Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the cubed tuna, mashed avocado, and finely grated fresh ginger.

  4. 4

    Add the Seasonings

Pour in the soy sauce, sesame oil, and lime juice. Gently mix the ingredients together until well combined. Be careful not to mash the tuna or avocado too much.

  5. 5

    Add Fresh Herbs

Chop the fresh cilantro finely and fold it into the mixture. Add salt to taste.

  6. 6

    Plate the Tartare

Using a ring mold or a small bowl, pack the tuna tartare mixture into the mold and gently press down. Remove the mold to reveal the shape.

  7. 7

    Garnish

Sprinkle black sesame seeds on top for garnish and additional flavor.
