Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Season the Steak

Generously season both sides of the ribeye steaks with kosher salt and black pepper. Make sure to cover the entire surface for maximum flavor.

  2. 2

    Bring to Room Temperature

Allow the seasoned ribeye steaks to sit at room temperature for about 30-60 minutes before cooking. This helps in achieving an even cook.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Preheat the Pan

Heat a cast-iron skillet or heavy-bottomed pan over medium-high heat. Add olive oil and wait until it shimmers.

  2. 4

    Sear the Ribeye

Once the oil is hot, carefully place the ribeye steaks in the skillet. Sear for about 4-5 minutes without moving them to develop a nice crust.

  3. 5

    Flip the Steak

Using tongs, flip the steaks and cook for another 4-5 minutes for medium-rare. Adjust the time according to your desired doneness.

  4. 6

    Add Aromatics (Optional)

In the last minute of cooking, add garlic cloves, fresh rosemary, and butter to the pan. Spoon the melted butter over the steaks for added flavor.

  5. 7

    Rest the Steak

Remove the ribeye steaks from the pan and let them rest on a cutting board for 5-10 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute.
