Method

Pickled Onions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Pickled Onions

Slice the red onion thinly and place it in a jar.

  2. 2

    Make the Pickling Brine

In a small saucepan, combine white vinegar, sugar, salt, and water. Bring to a simmer over medium heat until sugar and salt dissolve.

  3. 3

    Pickle the Onions

Pour the hot brine over the sliced onions in the jar. Let it cool and then refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

Pork Patty

  1. 4

    Prepare the Pork Patty Mixture

In a large bowl, combine the ground pork with garlic powder, paprika, cumin, salt, and black pepper. Mix until all ingredients are well incorporated.

  2. 5

    Form the Patties

Divide the pork mixture into four equal portions and shape them into patties.

  3. 6

    Cook the Patties

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Cook the patties for about 5-6 minutes on each side or until they reach an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C).

Burger Assembly

  1. 7

    Toast the Buns

Lightly toast the burger buns in a toaster or on a skillet until golden brown.

  2. 8

    Assemble the Burgers

On the bottom half of each bun, place a lettuce leaf, a pork patty, a slice of cheese, a tomato slice, and top with pickled onions. Cover with the top half of the bun.

  3. 9

    Serve

Serve the burgers immediately with your favorite sides.
