Method

Burger Patty Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Beef

In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix gently with your hands until just combined. Avoid overworking the meat to keep the patties tender.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

Divide the beef mixture into two equal portions and shape them into patties that are slightly larger than the buns, about 3/4 inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent it from puffing up while cooking.

Cooking the Patties

  1. 3

    Preheat the Grill or Skillet

Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat. If using a skillet, you may add a little oil to prevent sticking.

  2. 4

    Cook the Patties

Place the patties on the grill or skillet. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on one side. Flip the patties and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes for medium doneness. If adding cheese, place a slice on each patty during the last minute of cooking to melt.

Burger Assembly

  1. 5

    Toast the Buns

Optional: Toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

  2. 6

    Assemble the Burger

On the bottom half of each bun, place a lettuce leaf, followed by the cooked patty, a slice of tomato, and then top with ketchup and mustard. Cover with the top half of the bun.
