Cake Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Grease four ramekins with butter and lightly dust them with flour.

  2. 2

    Melt Chocolate and Butter

In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt the unsweetened chocolate and unsalted butter together, stirring frequently until smooth. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

  3. 3

    Mix Sugar and Eggs

In a mixing bowl, combine the granulated sugar, large eggs, and large egg yolks. Whisk until the mixture is pale and slightly thickened.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Pour the melted chocolate mixture into the egg mixture. Add vanilla extract and whisk until fully combined.

  5. 5

    Add Dry Ingredients

Sift the all-purpose flour and salt into the chocolate mixture. Gently fold until just combined, being careful not to overmix.

  6. 6

    Fill Ramekins

Divide the batter evenly among the prepared ramekins. Ensure they are filled to about ¾ full.

  7. 7

    Bake

Place the ramekins on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 12-14 minutes, or until the edges are firm but the center is still soft.

  8. 8

    Cool and Serve

Remove from the oven and let sit for 1 minute. Carefully invert each ramekin onto a plate. Dust with powdered sugar and serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
